Terrorists' Rights

This is incredible:

I'm proud to stand up for the "human and legal rights" of suspected terrorists.
Not because I'm a treacherous Muslim commie who hates America, but because I'm essentially protecting myself.

If I were taken off the streets and charged with a crime, I would want it to be for probable cause. I would demand a fair and speedy trail, with counsel, and before an impartial jury. I would expect to be treated humanely during custody and not suffer cruel or unusual punishment if convicted.

We have these laws for a reason. We meticulously gather evidence for a reason. I want that system in place to give me a fair chance at proving my innocence, and I suspect you do, too. It's insane to think that people could be held indefinitely on the words of several men for charges they cannot back up.

Here in America, we don't point-blank execute people because someone, somewhere, claims that person is (or will be) a 'terrorist'. We have trials, where all the evidence for and against is laid out and intensely scrutinized. Oh, but nevermind... apparently "We're pretty good at figuring out who's right and who's wrong." No need to bother with all this legal mumbo-jumbo. Due process and civil rights just complicate matters, anyway.

Does he really think the 'see: terrorists torture..' line somehow rationalizes or even justifies our actions? Something tells me we shouldn't be modeling ourselves after terrorist methods.

"Just like in the movies" Seriously!?! In movies the police always have the correct bad guy and torture always saves New York City just in time. In reality, things are never so absolute. The person you're maiming could have no information, or the ticking bomb might not go off... or might not even exist at all! But I guess it's better to err on the side of bad-ass in situations like that: "Fight for human rights, kill terrorists." More violence is ALWAYS the answer! Whoo!!
