I grew up in Oklahoma, but my heart belongs in Illinois with the cornfields and frost.
Sorry, California.
Last weekend was cold, crazy, wild, exhausting and unimaginably fun. Three years and not much has changed. Harding's still a dump. Gary still confuses the hell out of us (turn that left flank into a backward march). Best of all, you guys still make me laugh until my face hurts.
It felt soooooo good.
I was at home amongst you, holding my beer, drinking again with the MI low brass. Driving, talking for hours about philosophy, policy and current events. Giggling like idiots late into the night. Squad Awesome. The wonderland closet. I could finally be myself, undistilled. Thank you.

As much as I love the LSJU 'marching' band, it was refreshing to be part of a group that actually tuned. I'll admit chills went up my spine at the first chord of 'Revised'. Damn we could play! It's nice to know you still got it. Now if only I could combine Stanford's rally band prowess with the MI's music ability... I'd have the perfect group!

I don't live with many regrets, but I do wish I had spent more time with everyone at U of I-- when we lived merely blocks away instead of states. It's my own fault; I was always hiding in MEL doing problem sets, worried about schoolwork, focused on the future... I somewhat neglected what I had around me. In short, I squandered you. What a waste.
Hopefully some day I can right that. In the meantime, I will cook rice noodles, stay late at work and randomly laugh when I think of how crazy my friends are.
