As you can see, oil heats up upon compression-- about 2.25 degrees C for 300 cubic inches of oil.
Specific heat of about 2023 J/kg K, density of around 856 kg/m^3, adiabatic conditions... the oil 'produced' ~20 kJ of 'heat' during the compression. That's about enough Energy to heat up an 8 oz. cup of coffee 20 degrees F.
So technically if you didn't have a stove, but owned a nice hand pump and heat exchanger, you could pressurize some veggie oil every morning and heat up your coffee a few degrees.
In other news... I just finished drawing a really cute kitty. Will post that later.
