Shallow Alto

They are all so awkward, staring at us, mouths agape. They're not really sure what to do with us, or even why we're here. We must really spoil the atmosphere-- definitely not up to standard. Keep typing on your Macbook, sipping your latte, don't bother looking up. It might ruin your image.
A few smiling souls gather round to gawk at the colors and groove with the beat. Always the cooks, clerks and servers peep out from store fronts and restaurant backs to laugh and grin.

I'm just happy to play and dance in the afternoon sun. The band is back in town.

On the walk back to campus a nice bus driver pulled aside and picked us up special. I can now say I've ridden the Marguerite wearing my horn, sequins, plaid and two different kinds of polka-dots.
